چکیده

Reconfigurable Manufacturing System (RMS) justifies the need of hour by combining the high throughput of dedicated manufacturing system with the flexibility of flexible manufacturing systems. At the heart of RMS lies the Reconfigurable Machine Tools which are capable of performing multiple operations in its existing configurations and can further be reconfigured into more configurations which makes the configuration selection an arduous task. In the present research work the design of single part reconfigurable flow line has been attempted considering multiple objectives i.e. cost and machine utilization. A methodology is proposed for multiple objective optimization of RMS configuration based on machine utilization and cost by applying Multiple Objective Particle Swarm Optimization (MOPSO). A case study has been taken to illustrate the developed approach of flow line optimization applying MOPSO. (Received in February 2012, accepted in August 2012. Design of a New IPFC-Based Damping Neurocontrol for Enhancing Stability of a Power System Using Particle Swarm Optimization

The interline power flow controller (IPFC) is a concept of the FACTS controller for series compensation which can inject a voltage with controllable magnitude and phase angle among multi lines. This paper proposes a novel IPFC-Based Damping Neuro-control scheme using PSO for damping oscil‌la‌t‌i‌o‌ns in a power system to improve power system stability. The add‌i‌tion of a supplementary controll...

Optimization of Micro Strip Array Antennas Using Hybrid Particle Swarm Optimizer with Breeding and Subpopulation for Maximum Side-Lobe Reduction

In this paper, a technique based on hybrid particle swarm optimiser with breeding and subpopulation is presented for optimal design of reconfigurable dual-beam linear array antennas and planar arrays. In the amplitudephase synthesis, the design of a reconfigurable dual-pattern antenna array is based on finding a common amplitude distribution that can generate either a pencil or sector beam powe...

Self-reconfigurable Modular e-pucks

We present the design of a new structural extension for the e-puck mobile robot. The extension may be used to transform what is a swarm robotics platform into a self-reconfigurable modular robotic system. As a proof of concept, we present an algorithm for controlling the collective locomotion of a group of e-pucks that are equipped with the extension. Our approach proves itself to be an effecti...

Digitally Excited Reconfigurable Linear Antenna Array Using Swarm Optimization Algorithms

This paper describes the synthesis of digitally excited pencil/flat top dual beams simultaneously in a linear antenna array constructed of isotropic elements. The objective is to generate a pencil/flat top beam pair using the excitations generated by the evolutionary algorithms. Both the beams share common variable discrete amplitude excitations and differ in variable discrete phase excitations...
